So in the last week my girls have become quite pissy with each other over food, more so than before. I'm wondering if it's due to them likely being pregnant? Also should they get anything special in their diet such as calf mana?

Ummm . . . Calf Mana? You could up their calorie content a bit, giving them more oil seeds and see how a nut or two goes down. Almond, walnut, pecan, pistachio, brazil, hazelnut.

lol Calf manna is a supplement with extra calcium for animals. Well horses, rabbits, wasn't sure if there was something like that for degu. Hmm looks like I should hit up the bulk bins at whole foods for some nuts!

I think rolled oats are a good source of energy and minerals. My girls got it as a regular treat when they were pregnant/nursing.

Given degus are vegetarians, so I would suggest focusing on high calcium seeds and nuts. There's nutritional information for each in the feeding section.

Do you have reason to suspect they might be pregnant?
We normally recommend for goos that start squabbling to improve cage size and make sure there is two of everything they could possibly fight over.
