Hey everyone So I've finally decided to take on the responsibility of three handsome boys! They're called alvin, Simon and Theodore (3 guesses for where the names came from lol!). They're around 4 years old. I've been doing a lot of research into degus. I've previously kept a fair few animals including dog, 2 chinchillas, 2 bearded dragons, 9 budgies, 3 rats, 4 hamsters, tropical fish, 3 Guinea pigs and rabbits when I was much younger. My absolute world is animals- both domestic and wild. They are so fascinating and I love learning about them. I went into pets at home (I know a lot of people don't like pets at home) to get some dry dog food and I was just browsing the animals which is where I started researching into degus. I would love to get some rats again as they are such intelligent, fun and affectionate creatures but I really struggle with the heartbreak of losing them after 2-3 years so I opted for degus. I would love to get some degus and have for their whole life so some young degus but I found these 3 beauties on a for sale page on Facebook and I couldn't leave them looking for their forever home so they're coming to me on Monday with their cage which is huge! I'm so excited! Hence the rambling on (sorry!) so anyway.... Hi from myself, poppy (lab X collie- she's 14 years old) and the newbies who will soon be here, Simon, alvin and Theodore ?

Hello to you all! And well done for adopting your little chipmunks Please have a good read through the stickies in each section, where you'll find invaluable advice. If you can't find the answer, just ask! Remember, degus are a law unto themselves, so there's no such thing as a stupid question

Thank you both!
I'm so excited!! The cage they have is a rainforest flight cage and they have a hammock, half a house (they ate the other half) and a wooden bridge. So I'm even more excited because they're going to feel like they've moved to a castle when I get decorating that cage! They don't have a wheel as they chewed it and owners didn't buy a new one.

Sounds like you've already planned how you're going to spoil them rotten! I've just posted in the cage and accessories thread as I'd like some suggestions but luckily I get paid on 20th so they're 100% going to be spoilt to some new things. I'm also going to make/sew them some bits to save myself some money this month then next month can be a massive splurge on the babies x
