Hi folks.
Finally got around to posting up on these forums. My name is Iain and I hail from Bonhill in Scotland which is not too far from the bonny banks of Loch Lomond.
I am a new member to these boards and my first post is not really a happy one. I have two girls "Bo and Ellie" and they are mature girls and I reckon at least 18mths old. Most of the time they get on great and carry on together and with me (they have recently taken to grooming me which is great and tickles). They have had the odd fight and apart from one time it was nothing serious and I separated them for a few days and when re-introduced you would have thought nothing had happened and all was well in their wee world.
Three days ago they had the mother of all scraps and looked like they were really kicking the crap out of each other then would go calm for a couple of hours and go at it again. I have separated my babies as the wee one "Ellie" had a nip to her lower jaw which bled for a bit but after cleaning it (little rat bag refused to still stay for more than a few seconds and I had a towel around her but didn't want her to get too stressed out) but my "Bo" had a nip to her right foreleg and now she doesn't put that paw down when she's moving. Again I am cleaning the area (was some blood but I couldn't actually see a proper wound) twice daily with a saline solution but don't know what else to do for her. When she was calm and wrapped in a towel (and looking at me with that Degu look of utter contempt) I was able to gentle squeeze her paw and leg and she didn't protest at all so I am pretty certain nothing is broken so at this point I don't think a vet is called for (I hope). I plan on keeping my babies (they are my wee babies) separate until Bo gains full function of her leg again.
Their hutches/homes (I hate the word cage) are right next to each other and they sit and chirp and chat away to each other and look so totally depressed that they are apart.
I really hope they can be put back together soon as like I said they look so unhappy being alone.
Any advice/pointers would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks from me and my girls.
