Hey everyone,
I could really do with some advice. One of my three female degus has just had a serious operation to remove a rogue tooth. Unfortunately because of the problems with her mouth she has become underweight and now she is having trouble eatting at all.
Unfortunately as I am up at university at the moment my father is looking after the girls at the moment so I can't just syringe feed her, so I am currently tearing my hair out! Does anyone have any suggestions as to easy to manage food we might be able to tempt her with?

Hi there.
What does she normally eat? I was just wondering if she usually has pellets of some kind, because one possibility (just off the top of my head) would be to add some warm water and 'liquidise' the pellets, thus making them into a soft mix for her.
Really hope she picks up soon, bless her.

Nima made it through the night! Yay!!!
They do usually have pelts, I will suggest Dad give them 'pelt porridge' for breakfast, he managed to get Nima to eat a soggy breadstick last night but I think we might need to get something a bit nutritious if she is to get weight back on so pelts may be better. Thanks!

P.S Due to trips to the vet May and Ryo are not speaking to him, it is amazing the way degu's remember to hold grudges.

I was also going to suggest softening the food, and offer as many treats as possible, all the things she usually loves to eat, to encourage her to eat things to get her strength up.
Good luck, we all have our fingers crossed.
