I just wondered if tumours are a common thing in a Degu. My sister has had 3 rats and all of them have had tumors - it has made me worry about my degus? (My sister has just lost one of her rats - on New Years Day - she is very upset, the remaining Rat is going to the vets on Friday to have the tumor removed - I hope all goes well).

i believe tumors only show up in degus if they have an imbalance in their vitamins... they're usually benign lumps that appear near the tail, and can go away with soy supplements.

diet otaku - would you think a dried soybean once in a while would be benificial in preventing tumors in Degus? Similar to pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds perhaps one a day?

Oooh cool. I just bought a small bag of dry soy beans in bulk from the store as a treat for my degus. How often would you recommend giving them soy beans? I only give one bean per degu when I give them out.
