I have a vet appointment on Monday (the earliest the exotic vet could get me in), but was hoping for some help between now and then.... My Degu's eye looks horrible, it's got some sort of crust over it. I have wiped it (like I would a cat with an icky eye), but is there something I can use on it, drops or something? He's acting lethargic but did eat when I gave him some carrot and lettuce, and he seems to be drinking normally. I'm very concerned. I seperated him from his brother until I know what's going on. Any ideas or recommendations about what to do between now and Monday to keep him comfortable?

I spoke with a woman who is incredible with rodents and small exotic pets - she told me to get PolySporin eye drops from the drug store and treat my degu with them. They cleared up his eye infection within a few days and there were no bad reactions at all.
