Hi
I have 2 young degus and sometimes their pee appears white on the cardboard lining their home (other times it just appears as a wet patch). They are in good health - very active, loads of grooming and happy noises, eating well, making happy noises, shiny coats and bright eyes.
Anyone know why this happens?

Hello Sam,
what the Degu eats, very much affects, how its pee looks like. I haven't heard of white pee yet, but very often about red pee (what probably is more obvious to realize) teinted from tomatoes or certain twigs. What are you feeding? Any special treats about a day before the pee apears to be white?

I have also noticed white pee from my 2 baby degus, but I don't know what it is from. I often feed them cauliflower and broccoli.

my degus' urine tends to have a milky-looking quality to it, such that if they pee on cardboard, it just looks wet at first, but dries white instead of clear.

I think Degu pee is suppossed to be like a milky white colour, but to be honest, the sound of red pee is a little worrying..

Red sounds problematic, I suggest you seek the advise of a vet asap.
