My little degu (wiggles) has been pulling hair out of my bigger degu's (mr.degu) tail and I'm not sure what to do about it. They don't fight after he does it he just sqeeks and Wiggles will stop for a second and then go back and do it again. Should I be worried or what?

Mine do tend to pull a tuft, usualy when its dangling in front of the other! I wouldnt worry about it to much, my male does it to my girl, Taquila, but i put it down to jelousy, as my boy Taco dosent have his furry tip!

mine will tug on each others' tails when one is being mean to the other or ignoring him. usually it's frenzy (the little one) tugging on rumble (the big one)'s tail to get his attention or get back at him for hogging the food dish, or kicking him out of the wheel or something.

Oh okay haha.. Thanx that sounds exactly like my boys! I'm thinking about buying them their own little food dishes because they don't like to share their food dish or their wheels. I have two wheels in their cage now. Hehe.. I love spoiling the little fellas

yeah, right now they tag each other out of the wheel... one of them is running, and the other will put his paws on the first one's rump, the first one jumps out, the other one gets in. XD but yeah, when i put fresh food in the dish, rumble bogarts the whole thing until he's had his fill... sometimes i feel bad for frenzy and put some in a dish on the second level.

I like to put a tissue box in there every now and then. By the end of the week they will have to torn apart. I love watching them. I wish the pet shops around here would sell more things that I could use for their cage. I bought them this really cool bird house a while back and that didn't last very long haha. When I got my little one (wiggles) he tore that thing apart. I some times think he maybe a little hyper for my older one. I used to have two smaller cages but now I have this huge cage that was for an iguana at one time. I took out the bottom and now they have a huge cage. it takes up more space than my computer. haha. I love em tho. I wish more people would take pictures of their degus. I love looking at the pictures. The only problem with that is I wanna hold them lol. Yours sound like buzy little dudes. I like to put my web cam in my cage and let my friends watch them play. They all get a kick out of my degus. Their very smart and actually have a personality. I love how social they are its just wow. I never knew what a degu was or how to take care of one until I bought my first one. This website and forum has help tons! Thanx!

No prob Anna,
regarding hyper degus, I understand that, thats why I now have two babies, so they keep each other busy and leave the old boys alone!
As I have just moved house we are looking to set up a webcam on the cage permanently, as soon as this happens I will add it to the website!

That would be awesome! Mine have chewed on my webcame so you might wanna get like a plastic frame around it or something to protect it. I'm not sure what you'll use but fill me in when you get it set up! I can't wait to see.
