I need some advise. I have 2 male Degus, litter-mates (as far as I know, anyway) who I've had for a couple weeks now. They are both friendly.
There is a Degu who was from a museum that is being offered for adoption. I know nothing about him at this point except that he is a male, and is timid but can be handled.
Are 2 degus better than 3? Or would it be OK to bring in another one (after a suitable quaratine/introduction period?) The two I have now get along wonderfully and I don't want to upset their balance, but I feel bad for the poor museum Degu who doesn't have any friends. Thoughts on this?

Im the same way with any pets I see. I saw some Degus at the humane society. 2 females and 1 male and I wanted to get them all so bad right away but my boyfriend suggested to me that I wait a little bit because someone else might take them. It got me mad but I thought it over and found it to be best to just wait and see if somebody else got them and gave them a home. I dont think this whole message is coming out the way I wanted it to but the point is that if you have had your Degus for ony a couple weeks you should give them time to get used to their new home. Males are harder to introduce anyways. They tend to be very competetive or so I have heard. I know its hard to hear but I think the best thing to do is give the whole situation time.
