Ah! If between the mesh and shelf, just pop the rope in there!

Are you putting edging around the new vents?
I would see how the shelves sit on the battens, I would be tempted to keep a central bracket, especially with you making bigger slots at the back for the new access holes. Are you fitting longer ramps in the longer access holes, is that what you meant? Mine much prefer getting around our cage since I put longer shallower ramps in, especially now they are getting older.
You can use a jigsaw at any angle, but it's very important to apply firm downward (onto the surface you are cutting) pressure to prevent it kicking back as the blade runs up and down. So the cage would need to be chocked firmly so it doesn't sway as you push onto it sideways for doing the new vent cuts, I presume that is the ones you are concerned about.

Yeah, I'm going to try and make the access more 'running' than 'jumping'. I actually meant make them less vertical, not horizontal 😂
I'm planning to have the batons round the whole shelf other than the access holes. TBH the shelves have to be hammered in because it's tight so I think it will be fine.
Halfway through dismantling the cage and I'm knackered. Thank goodness for baked beans and quick teas!

Well I'm halfway through increasing the ventilation holes - really happy with them and it's been easy to do 😊 Finish the other side off now and get painting before lunch. Typically it's always gorgeous weather when I've planned to be inside all day?! ☀️

After a long day the vents have been increased and covered, the cage has been painted, the shelves have been re-edged and the lights are back up. Tomorrow is putting the batons up and then everything can go back together 🤗

IT'S DONE! youtu.be/_9jKnJH3Io0Really happy with how it looks and the goo's seem to like it. I've not cleaned anything and have put old substrate in so they should be fine. Now to finally eat something today, and then get on with cleaning the house. Looks a right mess!

Love love love it! So much variety with the different toys and materials on each level. Really like the sun bathing spot at the top with the hammock.
