i thought i had read earlier that degus normally have orange or yellow teeth, and that white teeth are a sign of disease... well i was looking at frenzy's teeth today and they're not orange like rumble's, they're the cheesy yellow color that people's teeth get when they don't brush for a long time. they're not WHITE, though. so does this mean frenzy is sick, or is it just that his teeth haven't gotten very orange yet because he's young? he's eating plenty of hay and pellets, and loves gnawing on the chubes and alfalfa blocks. will his teeth get more orange as he eats more fiber, or should i take him to a vet?
EDIT: and as far as i know, they have always been this color.

I think its because they are still young. My babys teeth are a yellowy colour, so i think they will develop their "orange" later. Id keep an eye on them though, and look out for changes like looking lathargic.

Judging by the diet you say your degus are getting, I would agree that the lack of a strong orange colour is due to their age, so I wouldnt worry too much, but like aimeelou says, keep an eye on their general health.

Feeding some greens like dandelions or clover will help to keep your Degus teeth a nice orange color. Something to do with chlorophyll.

will keep an eye out for dandelions/clover... might be hard here at the apartment since i don't know if they fertilize or not, but i could ask my mom to check her backyard.
frenzy is certainly not lethargic! he continues to live up to his name. XD but i will keep an eye on his teeth, and look for more GREEN greens to give him. thanks all!
