we are in the middle of giving birth !!!!!!!!! she just had one ,,the daddy is trying to gather up as much tissue to keep adding to their nest..so I'm feeding him pieces of tissue..when do I separate the daddy ?? It's 6:40 am - momma stopped giving birth, we have 5 healthy squiggly babies..way da go mom ! Daddy keeps pestering momma though, she keeps snapping at him to stay away cause he hops on top of her and then they end up wrestling on top of the babies. I just separated them to give momma a break, she was up all night. Any advice, suggestions,,,please feel free..I keep reading conflicting suggestions on websites when it comes to separating daddy from mommy for a couple of days ... Much Respect, Sandy la la proud grand ma ma PS - we have 7 babies !!!!! PPS - we just found 1 more under the pile. Sooo, a total of 8 pups were produced. All doing great.

hehe aww my degus just had 8 yesterday .... but yes. i know for a fact that degus can get pregnant right after giving birth, so if you dont want another set of babies, i'd seperate the daddy till the babies are old enough to be away from there mom, then you could keep the baby boys with the dad and girlies with the mom, if you plan on keeping them that is..

One of my newest girls (I got a pair of sisters from the humaine society) both ended up being pregnant. Just had first litter there were three look healthy as far as I can tell they are brand new though only few hours old. Mom seems good too but hungry as all get out. Keeps calling me to giver her food. I too wish I could get some advice. Good luck with your babies. I still have one more litter to look forward too. ;D

Sadly all three babies died. I think they were premature.
