I don't have any chinchilla dust. But I was wondering if baking soda could be used. If anyone knows... It would be great. THANKS! ;D

I would have thought that baking soda would irritate their skin dreadfully. if you cant get hold of chinchilla dust in any shops, try the internet.

tonight was a very exciting night for our household. Firstly, we found chinchila dust and set up a bathing tank for our couple, they love bathing in it, and it's hugely entertaining.
Another exciting moment tonight..I noticed one degu getting fatter and fatter..we always believed we received 2 females..ends up they are a happy couple who are going to have babies. so I need to learn lots more it seems. if anyone needs chinchila dust..perhaps I can help mail a box over or something..let me know..anyways..I need to find out what I'm looking forward to with babies on the way..wish us luck..g'nite folks Sensa la la

Chinchilla dust is readily available in most pet stores in the States. The large pet stores definitely carry chinchilla dust (Petco, PetSmart etc)

If you are worried about having a ready supply of chinchilla dust, as long as you can get some, provide it for a short period every day, and it should last a long time. If its kept in the cage it becomes the toilet usually, as is the case in my cage, but I am lucky in that I can get more dust very easily. SUNSHINEMEG ;D
