One of my Degus was climbing on its cage and biting at the wires. I saw thats its teeth were red. What does that mean?

Hi there Its quite normal for degus to have orange teeth, according to the books its a sign of good health, you start worrying when they're white. Are the teeth orangy-red? If they're very red I'd get them checked out. Cheers Willow

Hello Willow, you are perfectly right, yellow/orange teeth are healthy teeth. When their teeth are white they most of the times suffer from a shortage of minearls.

Degus can get orange teeth from the amount of green food they eat, and yes, it IS a sign of health. Treat them with dandilion leaves occasionally. they love that!!
