Hi, we just built a new carrier. This is our old one, it is big and stable enough for up to 3 degus. But as we have several groups with elderly and/or ill degus, we recently had to use this and an aquarium when we had to go to the vet. Not the best and most practical option so we decided to build something new. Here it is: 50x30x32 cm. Can be used for either one group or 2 individuals.

Wow, they are both brilliant, totally ideal! I can't believe how unsuitable the bought ones still are. We managed to buy wooden box with a hinged lid that we just had to make a cutout in the lid and install mesh there. Here's a quick pic of mine I'm sorry you have so many ill degus that you need a double/ multiple carrier (I've added the thread to the accessories sticky)

I'm sorry you have so many ill degus that you need a double/ multiple carrier Plus 2 cats who have to see the vet quite regularly... (they have their own ones ) With 3 degus 5+ years and 4 degus 7+ years (all second/third hand or from animal hoarding cases), it can always happen that you don't take only one degu but two to the vet. I like the idea of your box. It is fast go make it so there is no excuse for not having a degu proof one.
