Does anyone know where you can get a wooden nest box/house which would fit 2 degus in (and without nails in it). When I first bought my degus they did have a wooden house but they chewed it to bits and I had to throw it away as the nails started to stick out of it.
Thanks

Try Ebay. I bought mine from there, its designed for Chinchillas, but is wonderful, and all 4 of my degus can fit in it to snuggle up!
Very cute to see!

petsmart sells a variety of wooden houses of different types... one of them, i can't remember the name, but it's several multicolored blocks with holes, and they have notches so you can slide them together in different ways. i plan on getting one of those once the degus have thoroughly demolished their current house. as of right now whenever i see a nail stick out i just grab a pair of pliers and pull it out. so far it's still holding up.

I tend to buy them "cheap n chearfull" nest boxes, mainly because by the time theyve chewed it down to a lump, i have to get a new one! I havent realy seen a nail-ess house, i just pull out the nails as they advance through it. They have three little huts/nest boxes- one medium size hollowed out tree trunk shaped house, a large long hut and a small tree trunk shaped one. And yep, they all get in the small one and wonder why they cant move in it! ;D

HAHAHAHA
Why DO they do that! Mine pile up in the nest box door way, which only fits two abrest max!
I used to go to shoe shops and ask for spare shoe boxes. They worked great for lasting a week, I cut a door in it, they loved it, but killed it. But as the boxes were free I didnt mind!

mmm i bought a chinchila nesting box - i think it was about £10 but that was approx a year ago and the 6 of them haven't eaten throuh it yet and it has no nails whatsoever holding it together - well worth the money i use all sorts of boxes as extra destroying material - tea bag boxes and washing tablet boxes or cat food boxes are great! occasionally they get treated to a grass 'hut' too - they've had their current one about three weeks and they started eating it last week - so it'll probably be gone by the end of next!!! My cage is an aviary thats 4 foot tall and 2 foot by 2 foot square - i went out and bought a couple of the B&Q value corner shelves and some straight long ones too - they're great - easily scrubbable and because they're untreated finished pine - completley harmless to the little squeakies!! i also have a reggie rat hammock and swinging tube plus a half wooden tree trunk and some bendy bark log thing.... plus several diferent parrot toys of variety and chewy wood blocks and a rattly corn on the cob - a couple of branches and a springy bird feeder that i put treats in and they have to work hard to get them out!!! obviously a wheel and several different perches through out too. There is no end to my imagination when designing their cage - as it's nice to change things slightly each time i clean them out - it keeps them occupied and happy! ;D ;D
