hey so on Friday i notice my degus had missing fur and a bad wound I have no idea how this happened. Anyways I have cleaning up the wound with warm water and something to help with skin but there was pus again today from the wound I would take a picture of wound but my degu prob annoyed with me right now cause I cleaned it up today. I am taken the degu to vet monday for them to take a good look. just wondering if there was anything else i could use to help.

Definitely vet ASAP. Make sure you get some antiobiotics.
Take the sand out and keep the cage as clean as possible. I wouldn't touch it again, let the vet clean it up. For future reference, water should be boiled and then cooled and you can add salt, and use kitchen paper from inside the roll, you need to try to keep things sterile otherwise it can do more harm than good.
Try and watch to see if there is a chance it has come from a fight or if there is something dangerous in the cage you hadn't spotted before.

Regular polysporin (NOT Neosporin) can be used on the wound until you can get her/him to the vet.

hi i only got an appointment for Wednesday at abbey vet Chester le street as I couldn't get to Durham. Anyway Ill keep an close eye on degu the head is looking better but I still want vet to look at it. I blame the hay in the cage as I got it from pets at home and it not the normal hay I use

hi just got back from the vets my degu had a Cyst, from its hair on its head vet get me anti biotics and told me to keep wound open and clean for a few days he said if its get lumpy again and doesn't heal to go back

the Cyst had ruptured and had scabbed over the vet just took it off and cleaned it up cut the hair a little and told me how to look after it XD
