Hey everyone, I'm Phoebe... The countdown has begun! I'm getting my first degu (well first two) in just a matter of days! I've become obsessed with the little creatures and go to the pet shop to visit them very very often (probably more than is normal) and I'm too excited!! We've ordered a boy and a girl...and lucky me, I get to name them! (Although I may wait to name them until I get my very own...) I'm leaving for a trip to the UK on tuesday, so I wont have alot of time to get to know them before I leave But it'll be a wonderful gift to return to. Anway, how does Genevieve and Pierre sound to you guys?! I'm in love with them already. Nice to meet you...I hope I'm not comming across as too forward ;D

i'm wondering what the attraction is to having a male and a female? there seem to be several new members in this situation. for a long time i was freaked out because i thought i had mixed genders, and i had wanted same-sex degus. a pair is hard enough to handle, i couldn't possibly care for a litter every 3 months! not to mention breeding shortens their lifespan...

Good luck with your degu's!!...I had just gotten mine wed. Just make sure to not bother them too much for three days..This way they can adjust to their new environment..I learned that the hard way when Gizmo would make what seemed to be a Beep Beep noise..and grind his teeth..He even tried to attack me once! But now that I got them their Timothy hay..They seem to be getting better.
