My brood have recently broke their 5th wheel this year, due to them spraining it, so i decided to get one of those long lasting raved about Silent Spinner Wheels. Well...
Its noisy. After an hour the nut in the middle fell of so they attacked it. It isnt silent. Degu poo flies at you while they run in it. It rattles. Degu wee sprays at you while they run in it. It isnt quiet. If more than one Degu in it, sounds like a moter bike. Did i mention its not very "silent"?
Well my brood dont seem to mind its pit-falls, but it dosnt seem to matter what i want! Oh well!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I looked at those wheels in the shop last weekend, and thought they were amazing, just a pity my cage wouldnt fit one! But Im glad from what you said to be sticking to my £3 cheap ones that I have to replace every few weeks! At least they dont have the effect you are experiencing!!

I had one of those wheels. It lasted about 4 months and then fell to bits. Yes, they are really noisy as well. We use to have to shout at each other when they were on the wheel. I have now a John Hopewell wheel (which was expensive but worth it). It does not make that much noise but it can rattle the cage a bit when they go super fast. I wish I knew about this wheel ages ago as it would have saved a lot of money in the long run (this is their 3rd wheel since March).

Im still a big fan of the metal rat wheels. I sew on fabric so they dont get their digits caught and oil it so it doesnt squeak. Princess is in love with hers, she makes out with it all the time so at least I know shes happy!

You know, I've come to the conclusion that degus aren't deaf...at least mine aren't. I think they LIKE to make noise...It seems to give them quite the thrill.

I know this is quite an old post but I just had to reply. I have 3 silent spinners. When they are all going at once it is far from silent. The nut in the middle always goes first but I have cured that with a little bit of super glue inside. Then the nut at the back goes so I have to fix them back on the stand and attach the stand to the side of the cage. Makes it rattle even more though. As long as they are happy.
