My partner noticed this tonight and showed me, looks like an orange/yellow substance. Could be urine but not seen it like this ( or maybe it has but not one splodge) Here is the pic : Thanks

Is it a very soft poo like dihoreea? If so i would probably see a vet ? Looks way to dark to be urine and if it was then something's very wrong :/ I'd say personally it looks like dihoreea

Or thinking about it could it be some sort of food pellet that's gotten wet and gone soft?? I would look about the cage and see of you can find any more and even check the goos behinds for signs of dihoreea just in case

It does look a lot like diarrhea, in which case you'll need to get them to a vet to get checked out.

I can't really tell how big it is. Is it the surface tension making it look 3D/ tall? What did it look like when dry? Urine can appear discoloured by bark and bright coloured foods, and can be a bit cloudy if they have eaten something high in calcium or minerals.
Diarrhoea usually smells bad,and you would see a dirty bottom and the degu would be fussing at their bottom. If it is diarrhoea the degu will need immediate vet attention.

It has dried in white on the cardboard so this just must be urine then? Or would the runny poo dry in the same?

Sounds like it was urine. Just keep an eye on them that they are urinating normally, it's probably just calcium, but urine infection could also make it cloudy.
I imagine really runny poo would still leave substantial brown residue when it dries.
