I'm thinking about getting a degus, I live in nyc, any tips on locating them in the usa?

I would check around if any of your local animal shelters have any of them in need of homes first. I'm in WI so I dont know if there are any in your area but I got my babies from Pet Supplies Plus. I wouldn't rely on a pet store for info though

They aren't so easy to find in the US, I'm in the UK so I'm sorry I can't help you much in sourcing them. I just wanted to mention that you need two as a minimum and preferably three to form a cohesive group, and it's also important to check there is a vet locally who will see them, as people with degus seem to get turned away by vets in america. You also might want to look in our housing and diet sections of the forum before you get any degus too, as their requirements are quite different to other small pets.

Ive had sugar gliders in the 90s these guys dont seem anymore work. don't think I have enough space for 3 if i can figure out how to run pcv pipe I might try putting to cages together

I've heard that in some states they are illegal to have, so you may want to check into that, as if they are banned in your area vets wont treat them
