hello all members and readers! My name is Jo and I have two boy degus(I think,at least thats what the people at the pet shop told me)Stuart and Easy. Stuart is cheeky and very hyperactive little fellow whereas Easy was a lot calmer and sort of quite when we first got them so thats why the name.. :)LOL I have only had them for exactly a month today so don't know much about the best way to look after them so decided to join this forum in case I have questions and need advice. I have read up a lot on them before I got them so hoping that I might be able to give others advice and share experiences too..

Welcome to the forum joana (and Stuart and Easy too)! We do like to see pictures here First things first, I'd recommend double-checking their sexes as pet shops are hit and miss at doing it themselves, here's the guide you'll need: deguworld.proboards.com/thread/13070/degusAlso, well done for researching first! Although it prepares you a little, once you get them it's a bit of a steep learning curve, nothing quite prepares you for the full force of degu ownership than actually taking the step of having them! Another thing is, depending on where you get your info from it can be a little out-dated, with new things added or improved, for example, I first learnt the basics from degutopia, which is good for basic reading, but (as a single example) their safe-wood list is very limited whereas other people have found many more woods to be safe for them! On the forum we do our best to keep up with new information (and are fortunate to have a few members who are in countries where degu husbandry is far better understood, the most notable being Germany). And, on a final note, feel free to join in on any conversation: put your two cents worth in, join us over in the general chat board as we love getting to know new people and don't be afraid to ask questions of any nature (nothings too silly when degus are involved)!
