Hi there. i read somewhere that goo's can be litter trained. Has anyone else read this or know about it? Has anyone managed it? I'm trying to get my two boys interested but I'm sure they are just laughing at me.

We tried when we first got our boys. They ate the litter pan. And that was the end of that idea.

I gave them a proper dish, placed it in the corner that they seemed to prefer and left some pellets in it after cleaning them out. I hoped they would would catch on. They just watched me for a couple of days, then started to play in the dish and the last couple days they have turned the dish upside down. Have decided they very probably making fun of me.

They very probably are. Instead of leaving pellets in it, if you can somehow get some pee or pee-soaked something in it, that might encourage them to go there. But, they will probably continue to make fun of your attempts. They have a weird sense of humor.

Mine decided a while ago that their favourite pee corner is on the top level beside their house, the only level without high sides and a thick layer of carefresh. I got a corner litter pan (rat/hamster sized) and put it there with the wet shavings in it. It took about 2 weeks of them peeing beside the litter pan to catch on and now a month later about 80% goes in there (now they do still leave "wee trails" over the cage but none of the soaked corners with pee running down on the bars and on to my desk! So litter trainable to a point but not like a cat or rabbit.

I've had some success with putting saucers and tiles and so on in the places where they usually wee. Quite often they like to move the saucer and wee on the cage, but if you use a heavy tile, or you can velcro the saucer down - that foxes them! (it's always nice to score a point back ) It's not exactly litter training, but it helps with cleaning. If you put some uriney substrate on the saucer it helps them accept it.
