Found a really nice perfect sized bird house in P@H for a sand bath as it is deep and would keep it all in.
It is made of chapelwood, is this safe?

I think Chapelwood is the make... The wood will be treated for outdoor use so I don't know how safe it will be and so, wouldn't feel right giving you an answer on it.

Oh thats a shame Yeah it is Molette. Jeno - I did see that one but its way too big for a couple of degus :/ would look out of place, not very natural.

It's such a nice design idea, maybe you could make one if you are handy.
If not the ceramic chinchilla one in the shape of a salt pot is nice, if a bit pricey, or fishbowl style glass one is good.

I use this for my sand bath. It's not the most natural looking things but it works very well. It has a plastic rim but they don't bother with it. I keep theirs in their cage all the time, and I use this wooden flexible ladder and hook it to the side and it helps them climb in and out (although its not very tall and have no problem jumping in and out)
