Hi everyone, Just trying to plan what I'll need to buy (If i ever find a breeder!!) for my goos... A sort of mini-shopping list, which i'm sure wont be very mini!!
So, I was just wondering what types of bedding/substrate people use? I know theres lots of types, but was trying to work out which ones are best!!
Thanks, Caitlin.

I just use wood shavings, i buy a BIG bale from the same guy i get my horse bedding from for about £5/6 something like that and so far with 4 clean outs ive used... whats smaller then one-tenth? (im not good with maths ) ;D lets put it this way, i dont think i'll be running out for some time yet Oh and torn kitchen roll put in a hay ball or rack, my girls love this and take it off for the bed, they makes a nest out of it

Okay - So I'll buy a huge bag of wood shavings - seems like a very good idea, because then I won't keep running out... Thank you P.S - Does anybody use things like Carefresh or Aspen for bedding?? Or is it best to just use part of their hay, and kitchen roll etc.??

I used to use carefresh as the bedding for all the levels but my goo didn't really nest in it, so I ended up putting in a load of kitchen roll for her to arrange as she saw fit. It's so expensive for what you get though, so I stopped using it a while back.

Here's quite a detailed thread on substrates: deguworld.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Cage&action=display&thread=8754I think it's a matter of personal choice and what is available where you live. Carefresh is excellent but is very expensive in the UK. I think the only things to avoid are cat litter products that expand when wet and cedar shavings. They do enjoy nesting material too, mine love collecting cardboard and any soft paper (kitchen roll or toilet roll) and shredding it and cramming it all in an unfeasibly small space.

I use a mix of aspen shavings and Carefresh . . . more aspen than Carefresh . . . but I do use both.
