Whilst in P@H, was looking at the seed stick things for pets and none of them said they were for degus so I asked a (fairly useless) bloke and he pointed out one that was the only one that actually said on the packet 'suitable for degus'... So I bought some.
I don't leave them in the cage all the time, just pull little bits off for treats, and as the goo's loved them so much I read the back of the packet and it says one of the main ingredients is honey! So now I'm kind of pooping myself that I've given them diabetes..... Surely honey is not good for goo's cos of the sugar? In which case its bad that the packet says 'for degus'! And will it have harmed them having given them bits of it?
They're called 'chinchilla calcium sticks'.

I'm sure there won't be any harm done, the amount of honey seems to be pretty tiny, just choose something else next time, they do some really good leaf mixes that are great for degus.

They should be fine, JR Farm grainless stuff is good quality, especially for goos, and it says no sugar. JR Farm do an online information brochure with ingredients for all their products, I just can't find it right now. Have you seen this thread with other good products of theirs, worth a look if you are putting in an internet order? deguworld.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=food&action=display&thread=15657 Also their main feeds are good.

Yeah we just got some flower garden mix for them, I just like to know exactly what's in things before I buy them! All else fails and I can pass them onto my friend with rats, cavies and rabbits if they aren't suitable/the goos aren't keen!

Found their website eventually shop.jr-farm.de/Grainless13.htmlIt doesn't give much detail on what is in it, but I've never seen JR Farm wrongly advise something is safe for degus when it isn't, so I'd be happy to feed it.
