When I got my degus back in December 2010 the owners gave me two bags of Beaphar Xtra Vital Degu food and my degus went CRAZY for the stuff. I stopped buying it because at the time buying it online wasn't an option and I couldn't find the stuff anywhere. So now it is 2012 and the shop down the street started selling it and I phased the pets at home stuff out into the Beaphar Xtra Vital degu food but I was wondering if people consider this good food? It is quite expensive considering you don't get that much and it is almost £3 a bag... although instead of getting 3 buses to get to P@H it is literally down the road. Also I noticed that they changed the recipe since 2010 (Used to have small yellow things in it and Joe and Olly didn't like them), has this affected the quality?
So my question is: Is Xtra Vital Degu food any good?
Also any advice on making my degus eat vegetables? They won't eat ANY.

Not sure on that food as ive not seen it. But on the veg, my girls didnt want any when i got them but i dry alot of veg cut real fine. I stick it on the window sill in this heat and its dried within a few days, my girls love it ad now are stating to get intrested in fresh greens. Might be worth trying that.

Can you put it in the oven? Or would that not dry it out?

I asked the other half that the other day and she said "Well you could bui would need to be real low and you would need to keep an eye on it." I know some people put it in the airing cupboard, but its been so sunny here that the window sill just seamed the right place. Not sure what ideas anyone else will have, but im sure they will have some great ideas.

What vegetables would you suggest? It is sunny in Yorkshire so I'll give it a go.

Dried veg is much more popular than fresh, a low oven works fine for most. Broccoli, cauliflower, parsnips, courgette, green peppers are all good. Have you see the veg chart in the veg, nut, seed, grain sticky thread for more ideas?
Beaphar had stopped publishing full ingredients and nutrition info for Xtravital last time I looked, so it's impossible to say how good it is. It used to be OK, but they keep changing the recipe and one of the formulations had 20% protein, which is a bit high. You could consider feeding half and half PAH and Xtravital, the degus get a bit of variety and any shortcomings get evened out.
