I understand that oak leave are suitable for degus. I am wondering weather they need to be fed sparingly or weather they are safe enuff to be fed frequently?
Thanks

They are OK to feed, but should not be their sole source of fresh green. They are safe . . . but need to be balanced with other things. Do you have other leaves available that you can add to them to make a mix?

I was thinking of asking about oak this week too. Does it make a difference what type of oak? I have some huge trees but they are "Australian Oak". The leaves are completely different but the squirrels definately love them.

Frequently is ok if it is small quantities, to be honest you will probably find they limit their own consumption. It's the tannin content that can cause a problem, I think it affects the flavour. I really don't know about Australian oak, perhaps just try half a leaf or so.
