Hi, my name is Tom, and I love animals!
There, the addiction thing has been addressed, now on to why I am here. I have recently become interested in Degus and it seems the more I read about them or view videos of them the more interested I become in having some.
I'm still working on the plan, so-to-speak, and ran into a question - It stated that Degus shouldn't be kept above 25 degrees c which I would believe equals @77 degrees F. I ask, because I keep my house around that most of the summer as I don't enjoy the power bills. Where they would be could be anywhere from 77 to 80 degrees F. Should I consider other pets? Would this be a problem? Thanks, Tom

They will handle that temperature fine, but it is helpful to them to have areas in the cage where they can cool down so things like slat slabs, rocks, or ceramic tiles can be placed in their cage where they can lay on them to cool down if they are feeling too hot. If you have them situated such that they can be easily removed, placed into a fridge to be chilled, and then put back in the cage on very hot days, that's great. Perhaps you can put a ceramic tile in with a freezer pack underneath even. Anyhow, I think you can find ways to help them with days that are getting rather hot in you home.

I'm sorry . . . please forgive my forgetfullness! WELCOME to the forum! It is great to meet you Aladinbama. Degus are great animals and we all love them very much. This is a great place to learn about them, ask questions, and enjoy getting to know others that love animals too.

I think Deguconvert was reffering to the slate and not the actual goos

OOOPS!! No wonder you're having a good laugh, LOL!! Yes, I refer to the slate, rocks, and ceramic . . . whichever you may use . . . not the goos. Can you imagine what your fridge would look like??!! YIKES!!
