Hey, we were advised to take the wheel out so the babies don't go flying when the 3 month olds go ten to the dozen in it! When can they have it back?

How old are the babies now? I confess that I never actually took the wheel out of our cage . . . and they have all been OK, despite the age differences.

Totally put the wheel back in, but make sure that it is not in a location that will permit areas that can become tight or squishy, where a small one can become trapped.

I think it's a case of common sense for your particular situation. I know for other small rodents it is advised to take the wheel out for safety and also to prevent the mother being distracted from her duties. So maybe have a think about how safe the wheel is in your case, and whether the wheel will bring a bit of harmony or be a distraction.

They are good wheels, but depending on the goos can get chewed up quickly. See how you get on, you might be able to reinforce it with some thin sheet aluminium or you can re-use the bearing to make another wheel.

Ours aren't huge chewers so fingers crossed it will last a while! Going to make metal wheels for them while we make their new cage

Ours aren't huge chewers so fingers crossed it will last a while! Famous last words I really hope they get on well with their new wheel though. I would love to get mine that wheel but I don't think it would last longer than about 5 minutes with my trouble makers!
