Hello, I'd like to ask you about this species. The chokeberries (Aronia species) are shrubs native to North America: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AroniaHere in Europe the berries are sold as "Aronia berries"... they taste quite bad (well at least not really good but neither really bad). Do you know this shrub species?

Yes, my Mom always used to make syrup out of the berries. You have to use a fair lot of sugar for them, but the syrup is deep, dark red and delicious. I often get chokecherry mixed up with black current. Probably shouldn't because I think the berries grow differently on the tree. and when you put a chokecherry in your mouth, the way it dries up your saliva is a dead give away. Always kind of liked that sensation. LOL!

My Grandmother used to make chokecherry wine . . . she died before I was born, but my Dad remembers it very fondly to this day.
