Greetings to you, Livenzoo, and welcome to the forum!!! It is lovely to meet you! Degus do have some similarities to chins . . . but most of that has to do with facial shape, ears, and feet. As far as anything else goes . . . well . . . they are a different character altogether. They are diurnal, though they like to nap and create chaos on and off throughout the 24 hour period of a day, but for the most part they are less busy at night. That doesn't necessarily mean deeply zonked at night . . . just less BUZY, lol! They have a very different dietary requirement that is particularly noticeable in the zero to very low sugar/very little fruits restrictions. They are also much more busy and inclined to chew than chins are, and although I am not absolutely certain about this . . . less cuddly due to their insatiable itch to move and explore. They are extremely curious, so will check out/taste/chew anything they can reach, climb, or jump to. For the most part, they are fearless . . . especially once they have aclimated to your home.
That is the briefest of nutshells . . . but there is LOTS to discover here on the forum. Please be sure to ask all and any questions that may occur to you, and we will do our best to answer you!

What kind of cage do you have in mind . . . a bought metal cage, or do you feel up to a DIY special?

I'm checking into a Ferret Nation BUT i was told that the bar width would be to big for them?

I'm not sure if I am seeing the right space measurements for between the bars . . . what I read was .5 of an inch . . . so 1.75 cm?? Which I think is no problem. Buuuuut, if that isn't the spacing, what is it?
Also, are you getting the single or the double? For three degus right? If so, the double is the better size choice.

For very young degus, there might be enough room to squeeze through, but if this is the case, a little wire mesh temporarily wired round the outside to keep them in will do the trick for you. So glad it is a double!!! You and your degus will all love the space it will give them!

Welcome I also read up a lot before I got my goos. It always great to hear people seek information first and that the person you get your goos from doesn't mind holding them for you is good. I found this forum very helpfull.
