So sorry to hear about Bangers, your Vet obviously is on the ball I think you have done the right thing, putting him in with Mash. One of mine recently had 2 very long surgical procedures and he had 15 small stitches right up the side of his face and cheek and to be honest, it wasn't even a consideration to separate him, we had to at one stage because he was admitted back into the Vet for several nights and his Bro wouldn't accept him immediately when he came home. Other options to consider for medicating, oats are very good if he likes them, they are absorbant and also bite size shredded wheat, you can break them in half so one half looks like an envelope and you drip the meds down the slit in the middle, that's if he likes these foods to start with of course. You can also wrap him in a towel quite tightly but this takes practice and I only do it when I'm on my own. I have to medicate regularly with my motley crew and I am very lucky as my Daughter is an excellent restrainer of Degus that need meds, they realise that to fight her is futile and give in ;D she holds and I have learnt how to lift clamped mouths and shoot the meds from the syringe in. My Vet is so impressed with her holding technique that he wants to take her to Vet school where he teaches to show students who are somewhat wary of our little friends ;D

You're so funny Harpic, I've got this picture of you playing poker with Bangers, you've got a bag of oats by your side that you are gambling and he's got a dustpan full of goo poo - so you lose either way...but somehow he talked you into it ;D I think isolating sick/ recovering/ resting goos with a friend is a great idea. Also love the half a shredded wheat pocket technique, I'll definitely keep that in mind for future reference. How's Bangers doing today?

Marvellous back to the Vet - Bangers is oozing puss everywhere and the smell - well its not good - Vet has given me antibiotic wash now on top of the internal stuff - no bath - loads of drugs Bangers is not a happy chappy - ciomes and sits in my jumper and lloks soooo fed up makes my heart ache On route to vets he was in my jumper - keeps him calmer - right up to the bit where he decided to crawl out of my wrist and onto the steering wheel - language not repeatable - driving liek something out of "raiders of the lost Ark" - layby relocate said goo - then try to drive whilst having a minor heart attack - ahhh the joys of parenthood ;D

I'm so sorry that he is again in distress and the infection is proving so resistant to being treated. Your drive to the vets sounds like an adventure that is more funny to look back on than to live through!! Although, I have to admit, your description is VERY humorous! ;P How is your heart feeling now?? Clearly the two of you made it home safe and sound . . . now maybe you can recover. Do you still have him in your jumper?

ROFL!!! Can you imagine the tiny little helmet and leather jacket with studs on it? TOO CUTE! However, the excitement of him crawling out onto the handlebars would have most certainly brought on the heart attack I fear.

Sorry to hear about poor Bangers again Your driving description reminded me of one of mine, Tia. I was driving back from the Vet once and I had her and her 'husband' strapped in the front seat in their carrier when madam decided that she wanted out, bearing in mind she was still dopey from a procedure. She somehow manged to release the spring on the door so that it opened very slightly and climbed out, climbed across to me then went up my left sleeve That is where she stayed for the rest of the journey, some half an hour and I was just thankful that I had an automatic car so I didn't have to disturb her by changing gear. I cannot remember if you said, but did your Vet take a culture of the pus? It would be interesting to know what bacteria is responsible. Also, what Antibiotic is he on? There are several that can be used for severe, deep rooted infection and Baytril, although good, is often useless in these circumstances.

Hi Good thing you weren't on your bike !! ;D made me spray my coffee with laughter - yes can imagine bangers as a Hells Goo with the attitude to make the outfit sigh Good news after getting some antibiotic wash the wound has stopped seeping and has started to heal - redness has gone down and now we are on the last batch of force feeding - which we have got down to a fine art, i hold him he bits tub - he feels better for killing the tub (daily sigh) and i get a nip for the pleasure also - win win lol. Bangers and mash are now back with the others under supervision from me all you could hear was "No NO NNOOO lucky get off Bangers ahhhhh no bad goo - ohhhhh Bubbles dont wee on him oh that's not nice - and ohhhh stop sniffing him pleaseeee" but they are all sleeping together in a large celebratory pile - goo power and "you'll take our mates but your ll never take our freedom" think they have been watching Brave heart again
