hey guys as a new to the goo person I was wondering Charlie my rescue Degu as of well today he took one of the dogs biscuits, one of the very plain bonio ones in the shape of a small bone and is chewing it, I know they are safe for rats, hamsters but cant find anything about Degu's. He sure seems to like it and I know with rats and hamsters they are handy for teeth care. Please let me know they are the pets at home own brand bone shaped dog biscuits treats you get in a massive bag of many colors. got the ingrediants Moisture 10%, Protein: 11%, Oils and Fats: 5%, Fibre: 2%, Ash: 5%, Vitamin A: 4500iu/kg, Vitamin D3: 450iu/kg, Vitamin E (as alpha tocopherol): 45iu/kg, Copper (as Cupric Sulphate): 10mg/kg. It shouldn't hurt him, but I wouldn't feed them to him from now on. It's a meat based product which isn't the best idea.

Best for teeth really is grasses, so hay, readigrass, etc. On top of that lots of branches, etc for them to chew on.

i'm new too still but i wouldnt worry, he should be ok if its not too often. my 2 eat bonio crumbs when i let them out in the hall. I always pick up as many as i can (the dog is a messy pooch) but some always evade me and the goos will find them mine have never had any bad reaction and seem ok although i never give them it on purpose and do try to stop them as too much of anything is a bad thing although they do go nuts when they find a bit though

Yes, just to clarify degus are hardy things and can chomp on quite a few items with ill effect (including tea!), its the long term use that is bad. So no they're not going to suffer because they've eaten a food item they shouldn't really have, just make sure they don't have more of it.
