Hi Are camellia flowers ok for degus? I have a massive camellia which flowers abundantly but would never risk giving the flowers to my goos unless I know they are ok? Can anyone advise please?

I am not certain. I've been doing some reading, and camellia leaves are used extensively in tea production, which likely means they are high in tannins . . . which degus seem to tolerate very well . . . however there are a number of different species and I don't know if that matters or not. Nor do I know if degus can eat them because we use them to make tea. I venture to think they may be OK? You could try giving them a flower petal and see what their response to it is? Really watch them. If they seem OK . . . maybe give them another petal the next day? Maybe try a leaf for each? But if you do try these, take it very slowly so you can really watch them and make sure that they don't show adverse reactions.
Hopefully one of our MUCH more experienced members with discerning the suitability of plants, Davx, will be round and can give you his thoughts on it. I would trust his opinion completely!

Thanks so much for sparing the time. There wont be any flowers for a few weeks yet so I will wait and see what other responses I get and I will definitely take it slowly.
