Hi Guys,
I have bought some fresh brocolli and lettuce today from Sainsburys for the Degus. Just wondering how i serve it to them...do I dry it or anything?? :S
Thanks

Actually you do want it to be dry. Degus can suffer from bloat if the greens they are eating are too wet, so dry is better.

Do you have an airing cupboard or boiler room? Whap it in there on a plate, works for me alternatively you can stick them in the oven on a really low setting for a while.

No you can feed vegs fresh too (IMO it's even better). Introduce fresh food in small quantities initially and increase amounts gradually. That works fine. Instead of vegs you also can feed fresh herbs (parsley, sage, lemon grass, basil etc.), grasses and so on. Often degus prefer herbs and they are fond of flowers, e. g. Calendula or evening-primeroses.
