ok do we think there is a minimum size for mesh holes?
I'm going to be using it on "windows" and the inside of door panels, the hole size is 1/4" x 1/4" so basically half a cm by half a cm...
My concern is IF they climb on it are the holes to small and they may get feet caught in it? unlikely to climb it due to positioning but you see where i am coming from.

That does sound like really small mesh and can understand your thought regarding their feet. Another concern would be whether a mesh that small will prevent you seeing clearly into the cage. I always find the smaller the mesh, the harder it is to see in as the metal kind of plays tricks on your eyes. I use a 12mm mesh for the rats and degus which works fine and still means you can see in.

I know you can buy rolls of aviary wire at most garden centres and DIY places for much cheaper than £100. (I think Wilkinsons do a 2m roll for under £10?

the problem i have found is finding the correct guage wire, most stuff seems to be 10-13g which is about half what you need to stop the little buggers from biting through it. I'll take a look at the weblink cheers, think i looked before but cant remember now.
