I'm sure this isn't the first person this has happened to because I think I saw someone else mention this on another thread.
I noticed that silent spinner wheel was leaning heavily so I thought I just needed to tighten it up at the back. I was wrong! To my horror the wheel joint was attached to broken mesh. Luckily the gap isn't big enough for the Degu's to escape, so I stuck the wheel back on the stand it came with and placed it in front of the broken mesh. I'm hoping they won't hurt themselves until I can fix it, I did feel the broken bits of wire and they didn't feel sharp.
So yeah, Silent Spinners Break mesh when used with energetic Degu pups, use the stand it comes with for weight support ><

Ah, yes. I've had this happen with a silent spinner. It happens to the P@H thickets cage because of how thin the metal is on the cage (mine and other people's I have heard of). However, I have a Joh Hopwell cage of a similar design and it's held the spinner great. It's more to do with the quality of the metal used for the cage than the spinner itself, in my opinion. I'm certainly not insulting your cage there at all!!!! lol. I'm just saying that the spinner is quite hefty and some cages just can't hold it.

I use to put my silent spinner on the smallest wall (before I got a metal wheel and a different cage) as you can see the mesh flex on most store bought wheels. The stands are ok minus the wheel moves along and starts to grate against the wall lol.
