Hi, I have the pets at home cage ( I am planning to join another one on top to expand it soon) and I've heard that people put perspex around the bottom of the sides of the cage to stop the bedding flying out. I have my goo's in my bedroom which has a carpet and the bedding gets all stuck in it I imagine that you can get perspex from DIY shops and hopefully I'll find somewhere to cut it, but I'm not sure how to fix it to the cage. I was thinking about having the bottom quarter of each side covered? I think the goo's think my carpet isn't comfy enough and they're doing me a favour! Thanks

when i did mine, i got a really small screw driver, heated it on the stove, then punched several wholes in the perspex, then threaded cable ties through the wholes then secured to the cage. have a look on line, as i got mine delivered, and they where the correct sizes, as perspex can be really tricky to cut x

Hey I used these people and they were great. Order everything you need cut to size and delivery is £8.00 no matter what the order (I think), so best to order it all at the same time. www.acrylic-online.co.uk/basket.php?del=02mm thick perpex is great. Don't get confused like I did though, lol. It comes with a green protective plastic film over the top of it! lol.

I have to confess I thought the same thing when our perspex arrived...but at least I figured it out before posting a rant on here hahahaha! I ordered my perspex online cut to order too. My OH just drilled small holes with a normal electric drill to attach it on to our doors. I think as long as you do it gently and slowly it works fine.

I have the pets at home cages and found that swapping from woodshavings to finacard stopped 98% of the mess getting on the floor. I think its because the finacard is a bit heaver that shavings. It is also really so much easier to get off the carpet when cleaning.

Hehee muppets! Thanks for the link. I had no idea finacard was so good at staying in the cage! It just seems a little pricey on the website.

Ah! Thankyou! I was talking to my mum yesterday about getting some Acrylic to go around my cage, to keep the bedding in and hopefully lessen the amount the boys throw out, so youve helped greatly ! Turns out to go around my cage(s) is going to cost £21 including the postage... not bad ! x

I've gone from Wood Shavings to Finacard as well. After two clean-outs I've barely dented the bale of cardboard. Also I've found that Willow will pick out the larger lumps of card and use them in the nest box.
I think you get something like 17kg (approx 220 litres) for £14. It stays in the cage a whole lot better than Wood Shavings too.
