Hello all, Brand new here and thought who better to ask than degu owners. My Girlfriend and I are about to purchase 3 degu's in the next few weeks and are looking at cages. Would the Aurora 600 sufice? www.viovet.co.uk/p8029/Options_Small_Animal_Homes_-_Rat,_Chinchilla_and_Ferret_Cage_Aurora_600_-_88x59x156cm/product_info.html We can get one from viovet for £150 which we're happy to pay, however are there any others in this rough price range that, you experienced guys would also recomend that gives them plenty of roaming room and space to play. We're planning to add alot of extensions and added shelfs to give them as much play area as possible. Thanks in advance for any help and advice given. Stu

Hi Stu, welcome to the forum! If your member's name is anything to go by, goos seem to on the advance in Scotland lately If you put in additional shelves, as large as possible, this cage should make a great home for degus. One possible problem is the wire coating which I have seen described as durable and non-toxic but durable and degus are two words that don't really go together. Since there may be a bit of time until you get your degus, have you considered a DIY cage? Very rewarding and much better value for money.

Why yes, im from Scotland. All the way up north in sunny Aberdeen. I had considered a DIY cage but laughed it off almost instantly, you see DIY and myself dont really go together.

think the cage is fab! 1 thing you could do, which is what i want to eventually, is put full levels in, with wholes in them, so they goo's have loads more floor space to run around. I have seen other people do it, and if i can find the thread will post later x
