Gooooood evening my pretties, I need your counsel!!! My degu clan can generally be split into 3 groups. We have the wheel running exercise addicts, the climbers and the chronic chewers. This post relates to the latter.......
I know that many woods are toxic for degus so I stick to degutopia's safe wood list, however I was searching around for applewood sticks and other such woods and I noticed alot of garden centres do applewood chips for bbqs and the like and i was just wondering if that would be ok to give them? Because i'm looking at them on the internet i can't look around the packaging to see if they've added anything. Really, I just wanted to know if anyone else has used anything like this before or do you just stick to the items that are specifically advertised for degus?? thank you dearys xxxx

Where can you get hearty sized lumps of apple wood from then? My grandparents neighbour has an apple tree, so we're "pruning" the lumps that over hang into their garden, however the thickest bits are no fatter than my little finger. Ta.

Thank you I'm going to get me some tomorrow, they go through sticks like mad. One of my boys, Drumstick, seems to like making spears out of them either that or he chews through the middle of them and makes weights. These B&Q pieces might be slightly better for them, in the sense that it might take longer for him to fashion weapons out of them.
Thanks again xx
