Hey all, I'm new to this forum .. I have had degus before and we had ours on wood shavings.. But researching it now, alot of websites tell me not to use wood shavings.. What are your degus on and what would consider to be the best type of bedding? ChaZ

As long as it's dust extracted, it's fine There is a bedding called carefresh which is very expensive, but also very good. It keeps the cage smelling good!

I think finacard, maybe you could add a poll to this thread.

If I could get finacard over here in Canada . . . THAT is what I would use. For the time being, I use a mix of aspen shavings and recycled paper bedding stuff.

For value for money definitely finacard. I've used megazorb and I didn't like the smell, and that was before the degus wee'd and poo'd all over it. Plus it created more mess. I've never used carefresh, supposed to be very good but expensive.

I use finacard and I love it. My girls seem perfectly happy on it. Their cage is so huge the finacard lasts them 2 weeks between full cleans - I clean the wipe-able surfaces and change their soft furnishings (hammocks etc) more often though.
