I am new to degus but now have 2 of them apprently both males. I was just wondering if this wheel would be suitable for them: www.petplanet.co.uk/product_group.asp?dept_id=148&pg_id=583I dont want them to get there feet or tail trapped in the wheel and am afraid they may do so :/. If i were to buy them a plastic one im afraid they may chew it and get hurt :/. Can anyone recommend a wheel that would be suitable for them

Hi, I personally wouldn't get one of those wheels ... I don't have experience of using one but I would worry about their nails or toes getting caught. A solid metal one is best for degus. John Hopewell sells them but they're expensive. Alternatively there are threads on this site to tell you how to make your own. I have a plastic one but they've chewed it!! Hope this helps

I have a plastic one and bought it 6 weeks ago along with my 2 goos, no bite marks yet :-)

we have wooden ones from zooplus, although they don't seem to have the big ones we got (29 cm or something like that), they love them although they do chew them - but that keeps them busy and helps to keep the teeth worn down
