Hi, I am about to order the melton tall chinchilla cage as it looks fab for my goos, but before I pay for it I thought I'd ask you fab peeps what you thought.
It will be for my 4 girls, then I plan to get another for my 3 boys ( as long as they are easy to put together!! )
If anyone has one of these or has had one I would be grateful of any opinions - good or bad. If they are unsuitable id rather find out before i put my babies in it. Thanks for your time, Beckie xx

I don't know if it can hold 7 degus :S, but 4 would be fine IMO. and also will you be neutering the boys? I've seen a few people owning this and not had any complaints.

I'm not putting them all in together, the boys are in their own cage. Sorry I prob didn't explain properly, I'm getting this cage for my 4 girls then a second one for my 3 boys (I've got 5 rather expensive children so that's why I can't get both at the same time-at £100 each I need to save for a couple of weeks).
I wish I could just go out n get everything for my goos - I think my hubby's glad I can't as the goos would be taking over the house!!! I'd love to get them the biggest cages I can buy.

I have that cage and had my four girls in there to begin with and it's a pretty good cage - the main drawback for me was that the sides aren't particularly solid and when my girls ran in the wheel the whole cage would shake. Other than that it's a good cage. I'm not sure where in Leicestershire you are but I'm in Warwickshire and still have the cage. If you want to come and have a look at it you'd be welcome. I plan to sell it so if you'd be interested in a secondhand one (Only used for about 6 weeks before I upgraded) I'd be looking for about £60 for it. It has the three levels a couple of ladders and a couple of food troughs. Here's a picture of it set up for my girls

Hi, your set up looks fab-bet your goos loved it!! I live in a little village called Barlestone which is actually classed as Warwickshire but my house lies on the border of Leicestershire which is why I use it-it's all a bit complecated ( especially when I first moved here-even the councils weren't sure!!!) where in Warwickshire are you? I would def be interested in your cage but I don't drive, if you are close enough I could always get a taxi if you don't have transport, but it really depends on distance.
Let me know how far away you are, im quite close to Hinckley if you know it. Thanks xx

I was also wondering how you get into the cage for cleaning? Is it easily accessible? Thanks xx

I'm a fair way from Hinckley - I'm in south warwickshire.
The two doors give pretty good access to most of the cage for cleaning - it's perfectly possible to clean it thoroughly.
