Over the past few days I have been debating if my girls would be better off in a 'normal' wire cage, rather than their current homemade cage (below). I am concerned that there isn't enough air being circulated through the cage and that they aren't getting enough exposure to the general noise in my house so they are still skittish (7 months on!) and run every time I walk into my room. Now I know that this debate has raged a number of times but I figured we have quite a few new members who have got homemade or wire cages so my question is...what do you think is best? Beci

Swap the front to opening wood/mesh doors. It's such a waste not to use the cage.

I haven't even considered that, thanks Cherpi! ;D
I might even change to shelves to give them a bit more floor space...I feel a project coming on!

yay! Well as you know we want pictures, videos anything! Good luck ! Have you thought about having two livels which include the whole floor space, so one above the floor (thats the same size) and then shelves above that? That way they get more space and jumping space too.

I agree it's worth trying some modifications I think a full width/depth shelf at mid height would be good too. You could put some fairly good size mesh panels in the sides and then edge them with metal strips, or use metal vents to get a bit more 'exposure' to the house. I like your stones!

Your cage is amazing in my opinion but Cherpi's advice sounds good. I wouldn't buy a metal mesh cage as it will probably be smaller than the cage they have by looks of things. Just try things in different positions or even try wooden bridges from the fron side of cage to back ect Best of luck with ur modifications wish my two had a cage as great as yours well done Cazara

The thing is I don't know if it would be cheaper just to start over, rather than try to modify the current cage, plus I have no idea where I would put the girls whilst I made changes

Well I have been daydreaming ALL day and have come up with a rough design for a new cage. I am so excited!
I'm going to do as I did last time, plan properly and save up and then get it built. I'm thinking of having a double set of doors, 2 full size shelves, 2 smaller shelves and a mesh topper to be full of hanging toys/ropes/hammocks.
My girls won't know what has hit them ;D
P.S. This is all to try and stop myself from getting anymore Goo's!!

LOL!!! Sounds like a plan . . . could backfire on you though. Seems to me your new cage will be able to hold more than five . . . .
