Okay, so I have two girls, and they're both rather young. I bought them a few months ago from a local pet store. When I first got them, I bought them a temporary cage, but the bars were too far apart, so we traded cages with my sister's rats. Now they're in another (temporary) cage, and one of them can still get out! D: I think it's mostly because they're bored (I dunno where to get good toys around here; Petsmart doesn't actually say what kind of wood things are and I'm paranoid.), because she was perfectly fine for a few weeks now. She's in a temporary cage right next to the other cage, but her cage is an old birdcage, so there's bars on the bottom, and she's a tad lonely and without a wheel. They can at least sniff each other through the bars, but I don't want her in there too long! :C As it is, she's already attempting to escape by lifting the cage door with her little mouth! D: Please let me know what I can do! I go back to college on Sunday and I don't want to leave them like this with my family. Augh. www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2751760That is basically the cage I have currently, except one of the shelves is up higher. I'm a bit tight on cash right now, so I'm not sure if I can afford to buy a whole new cage...

That web site says product doesn't exist and suggests product 2751762
If this is the cage you have then I suggest you buy a bigger cage sharpish, this is far too small for 1 degu let alone 2.

Hmm, that definitely isn't it. XD I can't seem to find the link to my cage, but from my measurements, it is too small (but it is bigger than that!). They're finally big enough to fit into the cage, so they're not in the much smaller birdcage any longer, although I'm still looking for a cage big enough for my babies~

I am confused as to why you have only moved one Degu, surely if one can get out so can the other?

Oh, I did end up moving both of them, although the fatter one (haha!), Toulouse, couldn't or didn't want to escape, so she stayed in the cage for a bit (such as when I wrote the post). XD I moved her right after, but I guess I had forgotten to edit the first post.

That's ok then, I just had visions of the other Degu escaping in the night.
