I have enquired about rescuing some Degu's that will be ready for adoption in May and Im now doing my research into cages that are suitable for them.
I really like the Liberta Explorer cage but the measurements are literally slightly to large for the space it needs to go in. Does anyone do something similar but on a marginally smaller scale?
I thought that you guys would probably know about it if they did....
Many thanks

Do you have the measurements of the space that you have?

Well its to fit under the stairs, so if it were 150cm tall it could only be about 75cm wide......the less height it has the wider it can be if you get my meaning? Depth isnt so important really.
There are lots of cages out there but most of them seem to have plastic which i believe is a no go for degus, or wire floors/ramps which is also no good.......

Don't think you will find a smaller one with 2 door opening like the explorer, they are great cages though ( I have 2, love them! although i don't use the shelving) can you use it without the stand? If your wondering about degus having easy access to escape from bottom section, if they are anything like mine they will just jump anyway. Or, there is this one, not quite the same but 150cm H and 60cm W: www.netpetshop.co.uk/p-31104-chinchilla-102-small-pet-rodent-degu-cage.aspx(personally wouldnt use it with ladders though but leap 'n' ledges etc)

The explorer just sits on the stand at the bottom so you can build the cage without it perfectly well. The stand adds approximately 38cm to the height so may fit your available space well. The other option is to build the stand but not put the castors on - that takes off about 5cm from the height - if it's really close it might be enough to gain you sufficient space. I love my explorer I bought mine from here www.theonlinepetstore.co.uk/product/The-Explorer-Pet-cage-by-Liberta-1778 It was the best price I could find and the delivery took 2 days - I ordered it friday morning at it arrived on tuesday morning. My friend ordered one on a monday morning and it arrived wednesday morning.
