Hello, I already have 3 boys, all have reached sexual maturity so I'd guess at around 9 months, but I have seen a young male degu less than 2 months on his own. This isn't a case of I want more and more and more but I'd like to know from peoples experiences wether it is worth the risk to introduce him to my boys? I understand how to introduce and that males are harder to introduce; I do have the time, the space and the money for one more but I don't know if there is a higher risk of a declanning in the future. My 3 boys aren't all siblings to begin with, would that change anything? And the dominant male is very tolerant with the others, but I don't want to do anything wrong so if any one has any advice on wether I should or shouldn't adopt it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Kate

No one can say, if it will be easy. It could be, but also it could go wrong. I´ve introduced 4 degus into my groups. 2 in a few days, 1 in a few weeks and one took month.
We also have one, who never fits into another group.
The only question is, do you want to try it or not. No one can say, what will happen.
(But I would try... hehe)

Meg is on her honeymoon - she could fill you in on introducing males. Look for her posts regarding this subject.
