Hi everyone
i haven't been able to log on here much lately, some of you will remember me.
I have two degus - Basil and Brush. I kept you all informed of my progress with introducing my boys together but unfortunately i am going to have to admit defeat on this one. They just will not accept eachother, i have tried everything!
Because of this i have now bought another cage which i designed myself and they have a john hopewell wheel each, just for their safety. They love it. If they are happy with living next to eachother then i am not going to push them anymore. They are so happy now and thats all that counts isn't it peeps!
Thanks all for your help xxxx

I've got two boys I had to separate because of fighting. They live in separate cages, but they do okay most of the time when I let them out for playtime together. That way they can groom each other and play together, but they're never together unsupervised so if they start to get fussy with each other I can separate them before a fight breaks out. Of course, if your boys are perfectly happy not getting together at all, then I wouldn't rock the boat! Sounds like you've got a nice setup for them.

Don't feel bad about not being able to acclimated the two boys together. After all we aren't able to ask them before hand if they think they might like a companion ! How are we to know which Degus will and won't get along. You did your best and actually it sounds as though you have come up with the perfect solution.

i am happy how it has all worked out, i had such a stressful two months ha ha. now they are settled in their new cage i think we have all relaxed. Sometimes i let them have five minutes together on neutral territory so they can have a little groom but any longer than that, they start to get annoyed with eachother. My boys definately are strange dgeus ha ha.
