hi everyone, I wondered if people could tell me what they think of this.....
I gave my 8 week old goos the sandbath as im trying to introduce them to my lone goo..
When i put the sand in they didnt bother for ages, When i noticed one of them go in i left her for a minute as not to scare her out but when i looked she was sat there just eating the sand?
Is this normal for babies or should i not give them a sand bath for a few weeks yet?
thanks
marc

maybe they don't know how to use the bath ( which is weird because my degus knew how straight away) or maybe they are eating something in the sand? perhaps you could sprinkle sand on top of them so they get the idea?

It's quite common that babies don't really understand what to do with a dust bath. Try putting the two cages together and giving them a dust bath at the same time, see if the babies watch Lebowski and they might work out how to do it. It's common that they eat it because they aren't completely sure what to do with it (that way if they see another goo use one, it clicks)

My first lot of babies did well with the dustbath and cottoned on pretty quickly, they were soon rolling around in it like mum, but the second lot will just sit in there eating it while mum and the girls are rolling around...I don't think they catch on until a certain age or something :-)
